Say this Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Today, I do thank You for making Yourself real to me. Help me not to limit my service to You because of a sense of inadequacy. Remind me that I can do whatever you call me to do; for you have promised to be with me. Give me the strength to use my life in service to you. I pray this, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day 16

Do You Really Trust Him?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. ~Proverbs 3:5-6

When was the last time you received $2,760 dollars for doing nothing? For me, it was about five years ago when there were four checks totaling that exact amount just sitting in my P.O Box.

The checks were a part of a class-action lawsuit that a particular bank agreed to pay former members to avoid the expense and uncertainty of ongoing litigation. This was money that I did not know existed; I had no clue it was being sent to me. Can you imagine how thrilled I was?

I started jumping with excitement! I started dancing right there in the post office. Receiving unexpected money can feel like you’ve gotten “free money” that you can spend however you like. Well, at least I thought I could spend it however I liked.

God wanted to teach me a lesson about trust. The next day during my prayer time, I heard God ask me to give the money away.

“Lord that is hard for me,” I replied. “I need to pay this month’s tuition for school.”

Four days later, I heard God ask me, “Do you trust me? Give the money away!”
